The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules Doret NDONGO, received in audience this Monday at 11am, the Director of the TRAFFIC for Central Africa, Mr DENIS MAHONGHOL SIE accompanied by a powerful delegation of experts within the framework of the project entitled "leveraging legality along China's timber supply to reduce deforestation".
During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, including forestry legislation between Cameroon and Vietnam, which, as the second largest importer of Cameroonian timber, is expected to comply with all procedures, especially the implementation of SIGIF2 for the traceability and digitization of forestry operations; the cooperation agreement in the forestry sector; as well as Traffic's support to both governments in the sustainable management of financial resources.
The issue of community forest management was also highlighted, and MINFOF reassured the Vietnamese delegation of the authenticity and validity of the documents issued by Cameroon, and urged economic operators to comply with forestry and customs legislation.
