Placed under the authority of a Brigade Leader, the National Brigade of Forest Control and Anti-Poaching Operations is responsible for:
The National Brigade, in its area of competence, is responsible for:
the implementation of the Government's strategy in terms of forest control;
supervision of control teams;
control of operating sites;
monitoring the application of forestry regulations;
the control of the fulfillment of the clauses of the specifications by the loggers;
the investigation and follow-up of litigation in forest and wildlife matters, in conjunction with the Legal Unit; by forest operators;
investigations of all kinds in the forestry sector;
control of reforestation and regeneration operations in conceded and non-conceded forest reserves;
control of wood processing industries;
the development and implementation of the national anti-poaching strategy;
centralization and use of information relating to poaching;
coordinating anti-poaching and forestry activities;
the organization and animation of a network of informants;
control of hunting activities;
centralization and use of information from control brigades;
the collection, processing and dissemination of administrative sanctions relating to forestry and wildlife activities.
It includes, in addition to the Head of Brigade, twelve (12) National Controllers.
