During the audience, several issues were discussed, including the protection and conservation of pangolins in Cameroon, which is the flagship mission of the TIKKI HYWOOD FONDATION. Ms Lisa HYWOOD equally requested MINFOF's cooperation and technical and institutional partnership in the TIKKI HYWOOD FOUNDATION's fight to preserve this endangered species.
In his remarks, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife reiterated Government's commitment and determination in this fight. He reassured them of the availability of his ministerial department which is equally involved in the fight against poaching.
The TIKKI HYWOOD FONDATION is an NGO from Zimbabwe that campaigns for the protection and conservation of pangolins. In June 2021, MINFOF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) with the foundation.
THF's local headquarters in Cameroon is in Méfou, where a pangolin rehabilitation center is located in the Méfou National Park. The foundation works to protect the three species of pangolin in Cameroon: the giant pangolin, the black-bellied pangolin and the white-bellied pangolin.
