MINFOF MEETS WITH RUFORUM DELEGATION

A seven man delegation of the Regional Universities Forum, RUFORUM have paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Mr. Jules Doret NDONGO this Tuesday, May 15, 2023. The delegation was led by the President of the Board of Directors, who doubles as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Prof. Theresia NKUO AKENJI assisted by Prof Patrick Okori, the Executive Secretary of the forum.

The audience was not only to notify MINFOF of their presence in Cameroon, but also to inform the minister about their upcoming Annual General Assembly to hold in Cameroon from October 29 to November 03, 2023 precisely in Yaoundé. Thus, the presence of MINFOF in the meeting is more or less imperative owing that it is one of the main partners of activities linked to rural development.

They equally talked about the national forestry policy and the role of MINFOF in achieving food security, economic development, agroforestry as well as rural development.

The Regional Universities Forum, RUFORUM, is a vibrant network of 163 universities in 40 African countries, which stimulate coordinated efforts amongst member universities and stakeholders in higher agricultural education sector through engagements such as the upcoming general assembly, planned and hosted in an alternating arrangement amongst member countries. It was created in 2004 and it is based in Kampala, Uganda.

At the end of the audience, RUFORUM expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the technical and moral support as MINFOF reiterated its full support and collaboration in achieving the association’s objectives.
