The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules Doret NDONGO, paid a working visit on Friday 14/10/2022 to Sangmelima, in Dja and Lobo Division.
The minister’s convoy was welcomed upon arrival by the Governor of the South Region Felix Nguele Nguele, the SDO of Dja and Lobo, Owona Damien, the Mayor of the Sangmelima council, Jean Faustin Bekono, as well as other administrative and traditional authorities of the said locality.
The Paul Biya monument was the first site to be visited by MINFOF, an initiative of the mayor who doubles as project manager; with technical and financial of FEICOM and other ministerial departments. The progress rate of execution of the said works is estimated at more than 50%.
The second stop was at the site which will host the Domestic Timber Market (MIB), covering a surface area of 1 hectare, which is a platform for all commercial timber transactions between producers and consumers.
Next, the minister visited the construction site of the building of the Divisional Delegation of Forestry and Wildlife which is at 36.80% of the work covered.
Then there was the visit to the heavy duty truck rest area, which will equally host a specialized check point to curb timber trafficking. The last stop was at the current office space of the Divisional Delegation of Forestry and Wildlife where the Minister got to see the working conditions of the staff.
Lastly, there was at working session with the administrative and local authorities in the conference room of the council. The visit ended on a positive note after the formal exchanges.
