Elephant tusks seized in Sangmélima

A control unit from the Departmental Delegation of Forests and Wildlife of Dja and Lobo, South Region apprehended on March 15, 2022 the poachers in possession of 05 elephant tusks. According to Messie Anicet Charly, Departmental Delegate, this is the first seizure of its kind in this sector since 2019. The suspects were made available to the Public Prosecutor for exploitation. In the past, the Djoum-Sangmélima axis had acquired the reputation of a transit corridor for elephant tusks from the Dja reserve in Cameroon, Congo and the Central African Republic. CELCOM-MINFOF
