The Secretary General of the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife received in audience, on behalf of the Minister of Forests and Wildlife, on November 03, 2021 The Executive Director of the African World Heritage Fund Mr. Souayibou Varissou. The items on the agenda related to the implementation of World Heritage in Cameroon. This is a review of the situation of natural sites inscribed in the World Heritage, namely: • The Dja biosphere reserve, whose deadline for submitting the state of conservation is set for February 2022 • Lobeke National Park, component of the Sangha Tri-national and finally the Cross River Park World Heritage nomination project (Nigeria) and Korup-Takamanda National Parks in Cameroon. Surrounded by his collaborators, Joseph Nyongwen discussed with his interlocutor the obstacles linked to the financing of conservation sites in Africa and in Cameroon in particular. As a reminder, the World Heritage Fund was launched in May 2006 with the objective of providing financial and technical support for the effective conservation and protection of cultural and natural heritage of universal value. To this end, the Fund launches an annual call for projects and funding between the months of May and June.
