On Thursday September 18, 2024, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife received a delegation from the World Health Organization. The audience focused on the resurgence of epidemics in Africa, most of which are of zoonotic origin.
During the meeting, aspects relating to strengthening the level of preparedness for these epidemics, reinforcing the system for detecting these epidemics, and setting up an emergency response system capable of reacting in the shortest possible time in the event of any.
During the discussions, the WHO delegation welcomed the existence of a government coordination platform enabling the various sectoral ministries to work in synergy on epidemiological issues.
MINFOF expressed his ministry's readiness to collaborate to ensure health security in areas where it is responsible.
