The esplanade of the Government building N°2 was the setting for the official handover of the Japanese donation within the framework of their economic and social program. The donation, valued at over one billion CFA francs, comprised 16 SUV vehicles, 4 generators and three geospatial analysis systems. The equipment are intended to ensure the mobility of teams on the field, and the full-time operation of the SIGIF 2 traceability checkpoints set up to monitor legal logging.
The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules DORET NDOGO, took the opportunity to express his joy and gratitude to the Government of Japan for this generous donation, underlining the importance of the equipment for the smooth running of his administration. He also stressed the need for effective equipment to combat illegal logging and poaching, which are major challenges for the Ministry, hence the appeal to other partners to follow suit.
It should be noted that this donation bears witness to the excellent cooperative relations that exist between the two countries, particularly in the field of nature conservation and sustainable management of forest resources.
