On Tuesday August 26, 2024 I the conference hall of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife was the setting for the audience granted by Minister Jules DORET NDONGO to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, CITES secretariat mission. The Minister was assisted by his close collaborators from the Central Services.

This audience was held in line with the first CITES mission in February 2022, following allegations made against Cameroon in its absence concerning the illegality and unsustainability of Cameroon's exports.

Following this, and after Cameroon's defense, the present mission was recommended. The aim of the current visit is to assess the progress made since 2023 on the legal front, the monitoring of CITES species management, the sustainability of scientific quotas and the traceability of exports. The results and conclusions will be presented at the next meeting of the Permanent Secretariat.

Introducing the mission, the Minister wished the delegation every success in its work, reassuring them of the government's readiness to reinforce good forest governance and CITES implementation.
