This Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife received his counterpart, the Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development and the Congo Basin of the Republic of Congo, who doubles as the Executive Secretary of the Congo Basin Climate Commission of member countries, Mrs Arlette SOUDAN-NONAULT. She was accompanied by a powerful delegation to encourage and facilitate investment in sustainable development.
The main aim of her 48 hour visit to Cameroon was to present and inform MINFOF and other partner ministries as well as stakeholders, about the achievements of the Congo Basin Climate Commission and the Blue Fund; to publicize the latter’s in Cameroon, a member country of the CBCC; and to ensure the coordination and follow-up of all actions and initiatives against climate change by the Central African Development Bank.
The meeting was characterized by rich exchange of views, during which the visiting Congolese Minister addressed the issues of safeguarding Congo Basin ecosystems and the financing mechanisms of the Congo Basin Blue Fund.
The working session ended with an exchange of courtesies between MINFOF and Mrs Arlette SOUDAN-NONAULT, both expressing their interest in continuing this fruitful collaboration, given the key role played by forests in the fight against climate change.
