The Minister in charge of Forests received last Monday in audience, the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom, to discuss this event which will take place in Scotland next November. The Minister of Forests and Wildlife (MINFOF), Jules Doret Ndongo received in audience Monday, May 17, the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Cameroon, Christian Dennys-Mcllude. At the end of this interview, the diplomat told the press that he and his host had discussed the issues of biodiversity, environmental protection and climate change. To this end, particular emphasis was placed on the preparation of the 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (UNFCCC-Cop 26) which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from November 1 to 12. It must be said that Cameroon is one of the signatory states of the CCUNCC framework convention and will also participate in this important meeting. The challenges of this international meeting are in particular that the promises made to developing countries be kept, in particular that of developed countries to mobilize funding for the fight against climate change. It will also be a question for governments to conclude the outstanding points and the negotiations to fully implement the Paris Agreement. The reduction of carbon emissions is not to be outdone. It will also be about making greater climate ambition, not only in terms of emission reductions, but also adaptation and building resilience to the effects of climate change.
