The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Mr. Jules Doret Ndongo, has just ended a working visit to the East Region from February 22 to 25, 2024. He visited the Lobeke and Boumba Bek national parks where he chaired working sessions with MINFOF staff, local communities as well as indigenous peoples.
During these exchanges, speaking of the human-wildlife conflict, Minister Jules Doret Ndongo underlined the importance the State of Cameroon attaches to them on a daily basis. He instructed delegates to order killings in situations where people's lives are being endangered by animals. The issue of the necessity, role and importance of conservation in Cameroon, as well as the importance of protected areas, were also discussed, not forgetting the expectations the government has of the local population.
MINFOF also visited the forestry companies of Ndeng and Libongo, where he was able to appreciate the work been done in the processing of timber locally and the valorization of scrap wood for the benefit of the local population.
