Some 78 personnel of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife have been on the road since December 10, 2023 for the Higher Military Preparation, where they are being trained in basic military skills and physical capacity building at the KOUTABA Air Force Battalion training center. An evaluation mission carried out from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 January 2024, was in a bid to assess the situation and the trainees' level of performance a few days to the end of the training.
The assessment mission revealed that, so far no major medical incidents had been reported; the trainees have acquired knowledge of combat techniques, topographical knowledge, shooting techniques, mine laying as well as setting of traps. The major difficulty highlighted by the air Force Battalion Commander is on the duration of the course which he says 45 days does not suffice for such a training course.
