On Tuesday 28 November 2023, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Jules Doret NDONGO, received in audience the Delegation of the European Union in Cameroon, led by its Ambassador, His Excellency Jean-Marc CHATAIGNER. During the audience, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife was assisted by his collaborators.
After fruitful exchanges between the two parties, notably as part of the joint study on prospects relating to the Voluntary Partnership Agreement between Cameroon and the European Union, the purpose of the meeting was to give a new momentum to the agreement through an audit to be conducted by teams of experts jointly identified by the two parties who could meet to review all possible scenarios in a bid to improve the document. Speaking to the European Union's Ambassador to Cameroon, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife expressed his wish to work with the European Union in order to facilitate funding procedures.
In a nutshell, the Voluntary Partnership Agreement is a major tool and an essential dialogue instrument on forestry issues between Cameroon and the European Union.
