Forestry and Wildlife Minister, Jules Doret NDONGO today Friday September 8, 2023 paid a working visit to the construction site which will host the ministry in the nearest future and held talks with all the partners involved in ensuring the delivery of the building.
The visit which brought together directors of partner ministries like the Public Works; Public Contract; Economy, Planning and Regional Development as well as the Director General of the company in charge of the construction, DPE Inter, was an occasion for the minister to obtain firsthand information and contribution of all those involved in the project, with a view to effective remobilization on site and the resumption of work at full speed.
Reasons to the delay of the project ranged from the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in 2020 to insufficient resources to hire in the course of the year which led to additional work and consequently additional lead time.
Mapping out the way forward, Minister Jules Doret Ndongo and officials of the partner ministries proposed the signing of a service order taking into account additional work and additional lead time after the engineer's opinion on the one hand and the company's production of a draft schedule on the other.
They equally looked at the possibility of pooling funding for MINFOF investment projects solely and also requesting from MINEPAT for consideration higher than the available resources, all in a bid to complete the building which so far stands at 55.09% completion rate.
